The guitar plays different melodies and activates lights when your baby “strums.” The shape buttons feature images of animals and musical instruments. A cute French horn with spinner ball activates French horn sounds. The table grows with baby – great for floor play without the legs for younger babies and when baby is ready, attach the legs for stand and play discovery.

4.0 out of 5 stars Warning about injury, otherwise a great toy, January 31, 2013

This review is from: Baby Einstein Discovering Music Activity Table (Baby Product)
We received this for a Christmas present. My son continues to love this toy. He now stands up to play it. I would recommend this toy with one important warning. The center globe has a flap or page that his likes to turn. It switches from one mode to another with this turning. Unfortunately, the globe is not perfectly round so that when it is right in the middle, there is an opening and my baby's fingers get caught in it. A few times, he cried and I was able to see it and take it out. The last time he got his finger more severely stuck in it and then fell down contorting his finger in it further. I ran to him by then he was screaming (I was just about 10 ft away); the end of his finger was purple from lack of circulation. It took 10 minutes to calm him, he refused ice so I stuck it in snow while he still cried.

Solution-I was able to remove the flap. Now, he just has that one mode which he still enjoys. He laughs at the duck and bard sounds.

I am online to write to Baby Einstein and tell them of these incidents. I think they and you should know.

A year and half after purchase, this is the one toy that has survived the test of time. My son was too tall for it out of the box but he loved it all the same. Yes, they'll trap their fingers in the flap that changes from music to numbers but they learn to move their fingers and it's hardly a major injury. Eventually I got sick of him tipping it over all the time so I took the legs off. Now at 26m he carries it around and still loves to bang on all the buttons. He loves counting and the number keyboard
is a favorite. I keep putting the toy in a storage bin thinking that he's outgrown it but he always digs it back out. It also seems very durable, he's tried to mix it up by stepping on the buttons or just plain sitting on them and he's nearly 40lbs and everything still works like day 1 and no wear on any of the decals or stickers.

5.0 out of 5 stars I love it, my 7 month old loves it, August 31, 2015

I love it, my 7 month old loves it, this product has been a big hit in our home.

First, you can use the legs to raise it up, or you can remove the legs and sit it on the floor in front of your child. This is what we have done so far as our 7 month old can sit up very well on his own, but can't stand yet. He loves it. It feels like there are a million different things that each button does, and on top of that there are 3 different modes. One for english, one for spanish and one for french. There are a lot of lights, and music options.

Things that could have been better:
    -Volume.
Even on the highest setting it still seems too quiet, but we also usually have someone watching TV and two other people hardcore PC gaming in our house, so the noise level is a bit higher than usual.
    -Legs
Unless I'm doing something very wrong, they are flimsy cheap plastic inserts that don't seem to lock in at all. The table just kind of sits precariously on them.
    -Lights
Oh lord, I'm always dismayed at these baby toys where the lights are dull and look like the bulbs burnt out before you bought them. Not this one! Your baby will be blinded by the lights instantly, lol. When I saw the keyboard lights I was like jesus I need to wear sunglasses for this. I handed it to my son to let him mash some buttons, and I couldn't stop laughing when I saw the way he jumped back in shock as his eyes were assaulted by the extremely bright LED's.

All in all, flimsly legs, bright lights, and volume aside, I would recommend this to everyone with a >6month old.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great fun and learning for young kids., March 1, 2012

I got this for my 10 month old daughter for Christmas. I must say I also purchased several other Hohner "toys". The toys are in quotes because I don't really consider them toys. I am a musician and wouldn't really consider most og Hohner's things toys. They are instruments with very young children in mind. All the ones I have purchased have been well built and are priced on the cheap side for what you are getting in my opinion.
Here is my breakdown of each piece in the kit:

Mini Rainmaker- It's fun, babies love to watch the beads fall down through the baffles and make noise. It is equally as fun for kids to roll the rainmaker around and watch the beads tumble around. I must say I purchased Hohner's 16 inch rain maker at the same time I got this kit, so this small rain maker doesn't see as much action as the big one. This one is easy to throw in the car or a backpack to take along though. I do highly suggest buying the big long 16" rain maker from Hohner. It is worth it.

Baby Maraca- It's clear so kids can see the small beads hitting the sides of the plastic. It has a decently loud noise and is fun, but in the end it's a rattle. One cool thing to point out is that both this and the rain maker build up a static charge inside of the plastic which causes some of the beads to float. This is neat in my opinion and for young kids it looks like magic. It would also be a good way to explain to help explain the effects of electricty to young kids. Kind of neat. The static electricity will NOT transfer through the plastic so there is nothing to worry about for babies getting zapped. It's just something fun I thought I would point out.

Plastic tambourine- It's a fun noise maker for young ones. Sort of like shells strung together. They slide back and forth on a metal shaft. It's easy for kids to manipulate it and my daughter has had lots of fun with it.

Cage Bell- This is the main reason I purchased this kit. Like I said in the begining of the review, I purchased a could other Hohner "toys" and my daughter loves them. At Christmas time she was amazed with the jingle bells but I was always a bit worried to let her play with them. Some are sharp edges, some are cheap so could fall apart, some are made from questionable materials. There were a lot of different reasons I didn't like her playing with them, but I didn't want her to miss out on having fun with them. So I started looking for baby friendly bells and found this kit. I did a bit of research and figured out it wasn't much more to buy this kit rather than just one bell. So I bought it for the bell and got 3 bonus toys in my mind. It is great quality and I don't have to worry about her when she plays with it. It has been used and abused and still works and looks new. It is a good quality plastic that will hold up through years of torture from my daughter and any future kids!

In the end this kit is a great purchase that any baby would be happy with, and any parent can feel good and safe about their baby playing with any part of it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Everyone is part of the baby band in our house!!!, March 10, 2016

We discovered these thanks to daycare. They have a few sets there that the baby and toddler room use. What I like about them is that they make nice sounds- loud enough to be interesting to your little one, but they don't hurt your ears or get on your nerves :) Sorry, you know how some musical toys are... The handles are great for our toddler to grip. They are also not huge, so they are easy to maneuver, but still make a nice noise. Our toddler likes to practice taking them in and out of the bag and trading instruments with me to play with. I always start with "Who wants to be part of the baby band!!??" In our house, everyone is part of the baby band!

Great set of toys for little infants who are starting to develop interest in music and banging stuff. I like that despite my son putting everything and anything into his mouth while teething, the toys have stayed intact and there are no sharp edges to cut him. These toys are so much fun that we bought them for our friend's babies as well! We aren't too picky about colors and so the bright range of colors are great for our little guy! This is a great starter set!
